SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY ACCOUNTING 303 (Accounting for Financial Analysis) Summer 2011 INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Su-Jane Hsieh OFFICE: SCI 303 PHONE: 338-2738 CLASS HOURS: OFFICE HOURS T,TH 13:00-14:00 303.01 T,TH 9:00-13:00 COURSE DESCRIPTION : The primary emphasis of the course is directed to (a)the understanding of firms’ financial reports,(b) the rules and theories underlying external financial reporting, including alternative rules and principles used to measure and analyze financial data, and(c)the tools and techniques for financial statement analysis. The topics include current assets and liabilities, plant and equipment, intangibles, and stockholders' equity. ------------------------------------------------------------ PREREQUISITES: ACCT 101 with grade of C- or better. REQUIRED TEXT: “Financial Reporting and Analysis” by Revsine, Collins, Johnson and Mittelstaedt (McGraw-Hill, Irwin, 5 th edition). HOMEWORK,EXAMINATIONS,CLASS POLICY, EVALUATION AND CASE PROJECT: I.
