The issue of financing and investment decisions in corporations will be examined in the context of sources, methods and instruments used by firms in obtaining and utilizing funds. The major topics covered in this course include Financial Statement analysis, Risk analysis, Asset Valuation and Capital Budgeting. By the end of this course, students are expected to obtain a basic understanding of the theory and practice of corporate financial management as well as to apply their analytical skills on solving various decision-making problems. Text and Materials Required Reading Fundamentals of Financial Management , by Eugene F. Brigham and Joel F. Houston, Concise 6th Edition, Thomson, 2009. Available in the SFSU Bookstore. Files containing classnotes and homework assignments can be downloaded from your ILearn account. Required Financial Calculator HP 10BII A financial calculator (HP 10BII) is required in order to solve complex financial problems in the exam. Although I will demonstrate how to use the above- recommended calculator to solve various problems in class, it is YOUR responsibility to know how to operate your financial calculator. Top | Bottom Course Summary Prerequisites Grade of C- or better in ACCT 101, ECON 101, DS/MATH 110, DS 212, ISYS 263 (or pass computer information systems proficiency test) and upper division standing. College Policy See CoB website. Class Administrative Policy Students must enroll in the class by February 4 . Students who are not enrolled will not be allowed to take the exams or add to the class later. No incomplete grade will be given.
