“The world is a really huge place and the united states is just is a fraction of the world that we live in so it is our job to protect the united states and its citizens from crimes. But I am here to day to brief you on the victims at hand of the crime. Frist, I would like to discuss how criminology and victimology go hand in hand but are still very different in its own right. What makes them very similar due to victimology and Criminology both focus on crime and the victims of the crime. They both go hand and hand because they are both needed to have better results. “ Victimology began in Europe after World War II as a way to understand the relationship between criminals and victims. Victimology surrounds around the victim and the traumatic events that have taken place that has affected the victim. It also focuses on the relationship between the victim and the offender, the interactions between the victim and the criminal justice system. When looking at the relationship between the victim and the criminal justice system they look in to the courts and the police that are tied to the victims, due to the attack that had taken place. the also like to study everything about the victim that may have a possible effect on the victim. Victimology also looks in to other societal groups and institutions, such as the media, businesses, and social movements. Criminology as the scientific study of the criminal goes back since the 19 th century. It first came in play when Cesare Lombroso developed his theories about the origin of criminal traits and behavior. (Rachel’s Fund, The Impact of Homicide Sep 2010) Criminology is more of a vast filed of information and data that is needed to make sure everything is done correctly and accurate.
