17:02 STEP THREE ANALYZING THE PUBLICS Public A group of people that shares a common interest vis a vis an organization,  recognizes its significance and sets out to do something about it Members have a common interest that involves the organization They exist because of their interaction and interdependency with an org or  because they are the org face of common issue Contribute in some way to orgs success and survival  Each org will have different publics NO SUCH THING AS GENERAL PUBLIC FOR PR Audience Merely people who pay attention to a particular medium of communication  and receive messages through it. Don’t confuse publics with audiences! Relatively unimportant to the planning of a strategic communications  campaign. Stakeholder Same thing as public Ultimate goal with a public and stakeholder is to build relationships base on
