Brittany Velasquez ASD 110 Lesson 10 One concept from the video “inhalants” that intrigued me is the fact that 22% of 8 th graders reported using or trying inhalants. This number appalled me, and I believe it is a very serious matter that all parents should take a huge consideration in so that we can save a life or our future generation’s lives. At the Age of an eighth grader kids do not fully understand the dangers and harmful effects to our bodies that inhalants because that are irreversible. Another concept that I believe to be important for counselors to know is how intense the brain damage is from the nitrates in inhalants. After viewing the videos and thinking back on my childhood years I realized that the helium found in balloons is a nitrate and its very popular to people of all ages and very easy t o obtain. I never put to much thought into the true and very serious dangers of inhaling the helium out of a balloon and how doing this simple funny act of changing the pitch in your voice for a
