Dak Hall Geog. 1114 Dr. Steve Stadler 16 November 2010 Mt. Desert Island The physical environment has had a direct role in the actions of humans since the beginning of time. Even now in the 21 st Century, the physical environment is dictating how and where humans must work with and interact with it. On an island in the state of Maine, this is extremely evident. This is the Mt. Desert Islands in Maine. This island is home to approximately 2,172 people, and the Acadia National Park (http://www.city-data.com/city/Mount-Desert-Maine.html). Mt. Desert Island has become a well- known land mark in the United States for two reasons. These reasons are the possession of a national park, and the island’s location off of the coast of Maine. Although the island small, it still plays an active role in the biosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere in the region, as well as, with the interaction of humans in the area.
