o important cities were not friendly he’s older, so they were not amused anymore  Didn’t composer very much during this time Was rejected my his first love Mother became ill and died while they were in Paris 1779 – returns to Salzburg and was hired by the Archbishop of Salzburg o they did not get along 1781 Mozart tried to resign after a heated argument and was thrown  into the street About Vienna o 1300 homes in Mozart’s day o narrow streets o no sewage system Mozart’s life in Vienna He was a freelance musician o Had to hope people played his music. Fell in love and married Constanze Web in August 1782 o Father did not approve o Married in St. Stephen’s cathedral  Joined Freemasons in 1784 o Magic Flute – opera initiation piece composed by Mozart for the Masons 1784-1786 – peak of his career
