Tommy Clapp Disposable Camera Analysis 10/6/09 Examine the Camera and packaging. The camera comes in clear plastic packaging that has both a slit on the top of one flap for easy opening and a hole in the same flap enabling it to be hung on a rack. In the packaging with the camera is also a small, folded cardboard card with print on it reading “Wedding Memories” and giving instructions what to do with the camera at their wedding. This little card is useful because it does not take up much space in the packaging, it stands up perfectly, and has clear instructions in a nice, decorative font and design. Describe what it purports to do. It takes 27 photographs, which in the context of this particular camera are supposed to be of memorable events at a wedding; the instruction card included makes that objective clear. How does it function? Once the user cranks the film advance wheel, the shutter button can be pushed capturing the photograph on the film inside. After each picture the wheel must be cranked again until it is stopped and the next picture may be taken. The camera also uses a flash to help make dark scenes appear brighter and more distinguishable on the film. The flash is controlled by a button on the front that when pushed charges up the flash almost immediately. A small, red LED notifies the user of the flash bulb’s readiness. What are its limitations? It only has 27 pictures in its roll of film. It cannot zoom in or out at all. The photographer cannot see the photo he has just taken on a display like a digital camera. What were the design objectives ?

The design objectives of this camera were to be able to take photographs of decent quality and then printed out at a photo center. Also, it is an important feature that the camera is attractive and festive for the occasion as well as cheap to manufacture, seeing as many will be used at the wedding.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
