Jung Won Lee Professor Lynch English 1 6 September 2011 Old Habits in New World “Are you sure you will be okay?” “I’ll be fine. Go on ahead.” Even though I had some misgivings about leaving my uncle alone, I just had to go to the restroom. By the way, I would be gone for just a few minutes. What could go wrong? My uncle had come to the U.S. to visit me, his only niece studying abroad. I was very happy to see him and had to make sure that he has a good time during his very brief stay in California. I had everything planned out for the day. Being near the beach, I decided to take him to Santa Monica beach to have a leisurely walk and to shop at the Third Street Promenade. The cool summer breeze was very refreshing, and my uncle kept on telling me how nice the wind felt compared to the heavily humid August winds in Korea. It was going to be a perfect day for me and my favorite uncle. We walked on the beach, looking at the breaking waves and sharing memories. We laughed, sighed, and laughed again as we talked about my family in Korea and my stay in the U.S.
