Let’s talk about the risk factors that can contribute to conflict. Working in a high stress environment such as the medical field we work in is risk factor in itself. The healthcare industry is constantly changing, which requires staff to constantly have to keep up. This creates stress on staff which in turn increases risk for conflict. An article in Collegian lists these conflict issues: high degree of professional specialization, requirement of collaboration between different disciplines, expansive hierarchical management structures (Freedman, 2019).
