Steps to writing a great paper Read essay without looking at question. Re-read essay and begin to formulate thesis. Mark important parts in essay. Create a strong thesis that is not an opinion, but a specific and debatable statement. The statement should ask “why”, in other words, include the “because” of your thesis. The thesis should also be debatable. It should have more than one possible point of view. Creating an outline before starting paper. Write rough draft following outline.
