Physics 103A Lab 215: Ohm’s Law-Current, Voltage, and Resistance Measurements
1. Introduction: For this lab, we were introduced to how to measure the current with an ammeter, voltage with a voltmeter, and resistance with an ohmmeter. We also learned the properties of Ohm’s law and how to apply them to series and parallel circuits. We also used the non-Ohmic device (LED) to measure the voltage and corresponding current. 2. Experimental Procedure: For part I, we needed two digital meters that measured voltage and current. We made sure that the meter setting and wiring connections between all the equipment was set up properly. A 5600 resistor was connected to the voltage-adjustable port of the DC power Ω supply. Then setting the voltage across the resistor for 4, 6, 8, and 10 volts and writing down data. For part II, we connected three resistors in a series circuit along with the digital multimeters, and the cables. Measuring the resistance of each resistor, we then set the voltage input at 12 V and recorded the voltage drop across each resistor. For part III, using the same three resistors we connected them in parallel and measured the total

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

Kiran Temple University Fox School of Business ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
