RESPIRATORY NOTES -respiratory mucosa lines the conducting portion of system. Can be damaged by pathogens. -the mucous in the nasal cavity filters the air for particles, the turbulent flow also warms the air. -Pharynx= shared by the digestive and respiratory systems. -pharynx is lined with epithelium that are resistant to pathogenic attacks. -Larynx= voice box. Glottis= opening to larynx. -foods or loquids that touch the vocal cords trigger the coughing reflex.
