Pinak Tripathi Character Tracking Assignment Ch. 1-11 Character Name Blended text in quotes (page number) Your 1+ sentence commentary about the connection to a concept that is important for your character ongoing Atticus Atticus was brave in leaving Finch’s Landing and no one had ever left to live somewhere else. “…yet the tradition of living on the land remained unbroken until well into the twentieth century… Atticus Finch, went to Montgomery to read law…” (Lee 4). Because Finch’s landing is self-sufficient and didn’t need Atticus, he wanted to be educated so he went out of his home to get a degree in law. Burris Ewell Burris Ewell is a rude, erratic boy who is constantly held back grades because of his tendency to show up to school for only the first day. “Ewell was flattered by the recital. ‘Been comin’ to the first day of first grade fer three year now’… Little Chuck Little got to his feet. ‘He’s a mean one, a hard-down mean one.’” (Lee 27). The Ewells, as a family, are very poor, but unlike the Cunninghams, a very hardworking family, the Ewells are known as “the disgrace of Maycomb County” because of their lack of general etiquette, the fact that they don’t try to dig themselves out of poverty, and their disregard for everybody else.
