A study of gas turbine engines, found that during the hot summer months, the power
output from these engines dropped dramatically.
One way to counter this drop in power is
by cooling the inlet air of the turbine.
The heat rate (kilojoules per kilowatt per hour) of 67
gas turbines augmented with a highpressure inlet fogging was measured along with cycle
speed (revolutions per minute), inlet temperature (

C), exhaust gas temperature (

C), cycle
pressure ratio, and air mass flow rate (kilograms per second).
The following gives the
regression equation for predicting heat rate from speed, inlet temperature, exhaust
temperature, cycle pressure ration, and air mass flow rate.
