Will Boas BUS 102 Summary Draft The first speech in consideration for the annual company meeting is entitled “Why work doesn’t happen at work” by Jason Fried. The speech explains why employees have trouble getting work accomplished in a typical office setting. He goes on to offer ways of improving productivity in the office. Through his many years of experience in the business world and as a public speaker, Jason has asked a multitude of people where they go when they really need to get something done. He formulated all of the responses into three main categories- a place, a moving object or a time. He reported that out of all the answers given, hardly any said the office. Work never gets done at the office because of all of the distractions that occur. A full work day does not exist anymore. It has been replaced by work moments throughout the day. Workers, especially creative thinkers, need to have long uninterrupted lengths of time to solve problems. The speaker makes the analogy of comparing working to sleeping in that
