Date: February 17 th , 2011 To: Professor Finnerty From: William Boas Subject: Letter of Recommendation Request Dear Professor Finnerty, I am applying to study abroad in Luxembourg next year and I am writing to you seeking a letter of recommendation. I have been looking forward to studying in Luxembourg ever since I arrived on campus. I thoroughly enjoyed your class this past semester and I chose to inquire about receiving a recommendation letter from you because we know each other well on a personal level – you would be able to write a very strong letter of recommendation. I hope you would mention my strong character and hard work ethic, both in and out of the classroom. This would include always completing my assignments on time, seeking out extra help when needed and going to office hours. It would be great if you could also include some of my extracurricular activities

I think it is vital to mention my school-sponsored trip to France, Spain and Portugal two summers ago as well. I would need to have the letter by January 17 th . I will provide all of the necessary materials including the reference form and pre-addressed envelopes. Please send me an e-mail once the letter has been completed. I will then pick the letter up from your office and personally deliver it to the Luxembourg Coordinator.
