Will Boas Writer’s Journal 1/26/2011 After watching the music video of Michael and Janet Jackson’s “Scream”, I think that it was designed in a way that appealed to the time period it was made. This video was the most expensive and technologically advanced at the time. Because it was the first to be published on the internet, it has some cultural references. I think they made it so futuristic because it represented the beginning of a generational change in the use of technology. I think that is a very important aspect of this video. Fifteen years later, this video is becoming less relevant and symbolic.

Unformatted text preview: The ubiquitous presence of the internet and Youtube make it so easy to access any music video at the click of a mouse. The presence of Youtube today brings down the significance of the video in my opinion. Now it is just another video on Youtube. There are millions of them. I had never even heard of “Scream” before watching it here in class today. Granted I’m not the biggest music buff or Michael Jackson fan, but the fact that this video had no real initial significance to me shows how far society and its technology has advanced since the making of this video....
