Heart 14:58  Heart is two separate pumps Right – pulmonary side; receives blood in perpherae, pumps to lungs and  then back to heart Left – systemic side; receives blood from vascular system- lungs, pumps to  periphery Each pump consists of an atrium and ventricle Atria receives bllod and “pumps”(as in blood gravitates down) blood to  ventricles o 2 atria contract at the same time Ventricles eject blood from heart o Left pumps to rest of the body Ventricles relax, atria contract Dystole  Chambers contract Cardiac cycle From the start of ventricular diastole to the end of ventricular systole Slide 2 View of the heart located in the mediastinum Mediastinum – located bt vertebrae and sternum Slide 3 Heart located closer to left lung Apex of the heart – forms small point Slide 5 Heart wall – divided into 2 parts Pericardium : 3 layers of tissue & 1 space
