RUNNING HEAD: CRITICAL ANALYSIS 1 The discussion presented by McMurray’s (2015) can be stated to be very informative in all respects, as it links directly with the role played by community in shaping and sustaining health of people. The idea of health is explained in direct relation with the concepts of primary healthcare, community health, and community development (McMurray & Clendon 2015, p. 12). This is in context that the actions of people shape the health of an environment. The ideology can be understood by defining the term reciprocal determinism. Reciprocal determinism defines that it is only when there is dynamism in a community that positive health outcomes are expected in terms of community. This could be clearly seen in the health inequalities widespread in some communities because of negative interactions with the environment (McMurray & Clendon 2015, p. 15). Many indigenous populations of Australia are suffering as a result of long lasting dispossession and colonization that have caused the disruption to their relationship with the lands, kinship, religious beliefs and ties. There is also a positive example of a community that has been able to develop a positive relationship with the environment to improve their health manifold. It is the Nyoongar people in Western Australia that change themselves to fit to the environmental conditions (Kagawa, Mrjorie, Annalyn & Surbone 2010, p. 14). The people of the
