INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY BOMBAY Report of the M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree Programme Structure 1. Admission Criteria, duration of the programme and related issues The committee recommends that the admission should be through JAM (similar to the M.Sc. programmes) and Departments can provide additional criteria for the qualifications (as per normal JAM procedure) 2. Credit requirement for the M.Sc. degree and Credit requirement towards Ph.D. course work The credit requirement for the M.Sc.-Ph.D. programme should include 140-160 credits for the M.Sc. programme (as per the Mukhopadhyay committee). An additional credit requirement of 24-36 credits is recommended for the Dual degree programme. The total credits for the Dual degree programme will range between 164-196 credits. The distribution of credits in each semester would be as per the Mukhopadhyay committee guidelines (35-40 credits as per semester). However, a minimum of 12 credits out of the additional 24-36 credits should be for supervised learning. 3. Semester wise Credit structure – Theory (Core & Elective); Laboratory content;
