Cognitive Biases 2 Such a plethora of cognitive biases exist in today’s post-modern society, whether it be from irrational fears or misunderstood beliefs; a myriad of biases have been manifested throughout the ages that has lead each and every individual, including myself to develop, identify, and alter these cognitive biases through the natural aging-process. Discovering one’s own personal cognitive biases allows the individual to become more self-aware and hopefully ascertain self-actualization as Abraham Maslow has reiterated from what seems to be the dawn of , from (“12 Common Biases That Affect How We Make Everyday Decisions.” n.d.). Making the correct choice and utilizing proper judgement in a situation is of the utmost importance in seeing through the illusion of cognitive biases. The veil must be lifted by the hand of critical thinking in order to achieve oneness within one’s own self. Judgements and decisions can vary on a day-to-day basis dependent on the individual’s perceptions and beliefs. A further elaboration is necessary to emphasize how critical thinking is able to dismantle cognitive biases and promote rational idealism. All these topics are crucial to dissect and understand in order to delve deeper into the science behind cognitive biases. Through the continuous development and expansion of the human mind, I was able to personally discover a multitude of cognitive biases that had been plaguing my existence from a young age; however, thanks to the educational system bestowed upon each and every citizen of the United States of America, I was able to learn new concepts and expand my mind through academia.
