Describe the inheritance of the DNA found in mitochondria and chloroplasts. mitochondrial myopathy A) Cystic fibrosis -Disables the protein that transports chloride ions between cells and extracellular fluid. -This makes the extracellular fulid thicker and stickier with high concentration of chloride which builds up in pancreas, lungs and digestive tract causing the following effects: -Poor absorption of nutrients -Chronic bronchitis -frequent bacterial infections Tay Sachs -Brain cells of a baby with disease cannot metabolize certain lipids because an enzyme malfunctions. -Lipids accumulate in the brain and infant suffers seizures, blindness, and degeneration of motor and mental performance. -Homozygous recessive.
