The Information Systems Department 2 Research software applications and information systems are vital to any organization and its many departments. This essay will discuss three of those organizational departments. These three departments include: accounting; marketing; and production or operations management. “It has been said that the purpose of information systems is to get the right information to the right people at the right time in the right amount and in the right format” (Rainer & Turban, 2009, p 6). The main purpose of information systems is to provide a department with information that is useful to them (Rainer & Turban, 2009). Research software applications and information systems is important to the accounting department. The accounting department performs many different business transactions that require the use of applications.
