Business Management 390 Professor: Dr. Lori Wadsworth Di Liu My Ethical “Hero” John Stuart Mill, a British philosopher and economist, once said “An action is right if it brings the greatest happiness (utility) for the most people”. John Stuart Mill’s utilitarianism theory makes me think of my mother, an ordinary journalist in Nan Yang Daily for almost twenty years. If I were to choose an ethical model, I would definitely pick my mom without consideration because I appreciate her honesty, responsibility, respect, and compassion. My mother has taught me her ethical behavior when we lived together. She is my ethical “hero” and my first ethical teacher. She taught me the basic ethical standards, such as honesty, respect, integrity, etc., and encouraged me to apply these ethical standards to my entire life. As I grew up with these ethical standards, I integrated into society and decided how I would live my live with these ethical standards.
