The US-based organization Freedom House has measured the “freedom status” of  countries in the Middle East. What factors do they measure? Which countries do they  determine are the most free? What are human rights? How does the UN monitor and promote human rights? Identify  some of the major conventions passed, what they attempt to do, and whether there are  any patterns regarding which conventions are adopted by which countries in the region. What is the Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam?
