Group Planning Writing Learning Objectives PEDU 575 What are Learning Objectives? Statements about what students should be able to do, know, or value that demonstrates learning toward program goals. Objectives focus on the three learning domains: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor What Do Lesson Objectives Include? Each lesson objective includes A behavior A criterion/criteria A condition/conditions Example: Skip = BEHAVIOR With a partner = CONDITION Using the correct form = CRITERION Writing Lesson Objectives Learning objectives are written in terms of what the students will be able to do, know, or value. Example: The students will be able to restate the three types of clouds in an oral review at the end of the lesson. Writing Lesson Objectives Example: SWBAT demonstrate a forward roll using good form on a mat (chin tucked, body tight, body curled). Behavior: roll Demonstrate a forward Criterion: Using good form Condition: On a mat Writing Lesson Objectives Example: SWBAT show respect for others by listing on a class poster one positive attribute of a classmate using nouns from the weekly spelling list. Behavior: list Criterion: one positive attribute from weekly spelling list Condition: on a class poster Homework Bring in a first draft of your lesson plan for review to class on Thursday. ...
