Men get close by sharing activities. ―Closeness in the doing‖ ( Ex ) Bromance Women use more self-disclosure . Women express more empathy towards friends. Social support is a key factor in women’s coping with difficult situations. Women rely heavily on friends for talking out or otherwise coping with a crisis. Even married women tend to have a same sex best friend (DIFF’T FROM MARRIED MEN) Female friends may become even more important in later life. Some gender similarity in friend qualities Both trust and authenticity are important Self-disclosure imp’t for both (more so for women)
