How to Study for Test #3:
1)
Recopy all notes from class and the textbook. Review handouts given in class. Make a list of
all outstanding questions and get help with those items immediately.
2)
Redo homework problems that gave you trouble.
3)
For extra practice, try problems from the chapter review: p.566 (51 – 69 odd) and p.629 (1 –
7 odd, 41 – 47 odd)
Topics for Test #3:
Section 7.4:
1)
Know the double-angle formulas for sine, cosine and tangent. Know how to prove them
with a sum of two of the same angle.
2)
Know how to find the exact value trig functions of double angles given the exact value of
a trig function of an angle in an acute triangle.
3)
Know how to express a trig function of a multiple angle (i.e., sin3x) in terms of the
original trig function (sinx) by using sum formulas and double angle formulas (ex: cos4x
= cos(2x+2x) = cos2xcos2x – sin2xsin2x = …)
4)
Know the half-angle identities and formulas. Know how to verify identities with them.
