Human Capital Work Teams and Groups Groups and Work Teams Group - two or more people with common interests, objectives and continuing interaction Work Team- A group of people with complementary skills who are committed to a common mission, performance goals, and approach for which they hold themselves mutually accountable o Effective work team Relaxed, comfortable, informal atmosphere Group’s task is accepted and well understood Members listen well People express both their feelings and ideas Constructive disagreement on project, not people Group is aware of its own operation and function Decisions are usually based on consensus When actions are decided, clear assignments are made and accepted by members Terms o Group norms- the standards a group uses to evaluate its participants behavior o Group cohesion- the interpersonal glue that makes a group stick together o Social loafing- the failure of a member to commit their resources, ideas, or effort
