Amador, Meia Lynette C. HUM014 – A67 “Analysis of Change by Angela Manalang Gloria” The poem basically talks about the inevitability of change in one person’s life. It talked about how the love for a thing unknowingly could change through time and such poems could make you realize of different meaning. But, reading it would easily tell you that it talked literally about things the speaker loved, (… the dolls that overran My childhood hours and taught me fairy art; The books I ravished by the censored score: Music that like delirium burned my days; The golden calf I fashioned to adore When lately I forsook the golden phrase ) thus also shows that its diction could be both denotation and connotation because some words the speaker meant are the actual meaning of the words in the dictionary while the others ( burned my days) are implied, does not literally mean burned the speaker’s day. The speaker, unknown, who has loved many things, is now about to forget them all. The form of the poem is free verse because it didn’t show any pattern throughout. Also,
