Histograms A histogram is a graph consisting of bars of equal width drawn adjacent to each other (without gaps), and is used to analyze the shape of the distribution of the data. The horizontal scale represents the classes and the vertical scale represents the frequencies. The heights of the bars correspond to the frequency values. How to construct a histogram Construct a frequency table. Find all class boundaries. On the horizontal axis put the class boundaries and on the vertical axis put frequencies. Above each interval put a bar of height equal to the corresponding frequency. Note Instead of class boundaries, you can use class midpoints. In this case, you should place each class midpoint in the middle of its corresponding class. You may also use lower class limits in place of class boundaries. A. For the first table, the class boundaries are given on the left side in blue.
