Was played in the simplest form; take a club, swing at ball and get it to the finishing point iii. Golf erupted onto world scene when official rules were made in Edinburgh in 1744 2. U.S. i. First golf course in U.S. was St. Andrews, in Yonkers, N.Y. and was only 3 holes founded in 1888. ii. The first 18-hole course was founded in Wheaton, Ill., in 1893, named the Chicago Golf Club. iii.
