Though the level of pollution varies from day to day and even hour to hour, it has been shown that the level during the summer can be approximated by the model 25 . 0 16 . 0 04 . 0 2 + = t t L , where L measures the level of pollution and t measures time with t = 0 corresponding to 6:00 a.m. When will the level of pollution be at a minimum? What time of day should runners exercise in order to be at a safe level? 1) The level of pollution will be at a minimum at 8 a.m. The pollution levels will be below 0.3 ppm between 6 a.m. and 10:17 a.m.
