Let me relate to you three moments of truth I have recently experienced during a restaurant visit and the overall impression with which I was left. Having been a server for five years myself, I tend to be more critical than the average guest when it comes to good service. Through the years I have learned a great deal about all that has to do with quality service. The most recent restaurant I have dined at is a place called BJ’s. I went as part of my friends twenty-first birthday celebration. My first impression was that this BJ’s looked just like the BJ’s I had visited back home. My moment of truth experience number one started at the host stand. I was very impressed with the attentiveness and teamwork displayed by the 3 hostesses I meet upon arrival. Without skipping a beat we were greeted and seated and ready so start our night. The first impression is always the most important so that was a big plus for me. The bartenders response was that I could not have a cosmo in a shot glass and that they only came in martin glasses. Her reason was that she did not have a button on the restaurants computer system to ring such an order in She ended up talking to her manager about it and sure enough we got what we ordered. After that she ignored us after bringing us our check. She didn’t even ask us if we wanted another round. Experiences like this prevent people from making another visit. The last moment of truth was our servers over all excellent service. I know it can be difficult serving a table full of young people but she handled all obstacles professionally and promptly. Overall she was friendly, attentive, and patient. Despite the rude bartender I would definitely go back to BJ’s again....
