Garrett Aryan British Lit 2310 Tilka 4/18/11 Olaudah Equiano Olaudah Equiano presented a disturbing narrative to the British people. He uncovered the sickening experience on a slave ship to North America. This narrative is especially powerful because Olaudah reveals his passionate emotions through his response to his treatment while on the voyage. Olaudah shocked the British people by revealing the extreme fear, disgust and greed he observed during the expedition. This personal narrative was so powerful that it evoked shock and embarrassment throughout the British nation so much that it prompted them to abolished slavery as a result. Olaudah showed that he feared the white people on the ship as well when he arrived in America. Their brutality was so severe that many died from starvation, sickness and flogging. If the slave would not consume their meals, they were punished for their disobedience. This was achieved without communication through language because they could not understand each other. This contributed to the fear that Olaudah felt because he did not understand why
