I believe gambling as a business has become more acceptable over the past two decades for the following reasons. Gambling has become more and more accepted because of its increase in popularity through advertising, new hotel resorts offering gambling play, technology, and the rough economic times. As it is obvious that America, as well as the rest of the world, are struggling through rough economic times, it is not uncommon that people will make a decision they do not normally make, which is gambling in a casino as a mode for winning a fortune that is not there currently, in the job market. If gambling were to be illegal, or be considered as something that should be illegal, is simply illogical from a government standpoint because it is our right to choose what to do with our own money, and if we wish to risk it on slot machines, or on a scratcher, it is our right and will to do so. With an increase in resort gambling competition between hotels as well as advertising from such shows as World Series of Poker , it is looked at more of a sport now, and a means of competition, than rather for the aspect of risking high amounts of money for external purposes such as addiction....
