Communications 101 Dr. Dow Essay # 2, “Photo Focus” Why this topic? For this second essay, let’s shift from an audio prompt to a visual inspiration. Find a photograph of yourself that shows you doing something you love or enjoy or are good at. For example, I might use a photo of myself with my daughter, one of me teaching, or one of me finishing a marathon. Once you've chosen the photo, consider what that photo really reveals about you: your character, your passions, your “self.” With that central idea in mind, then think of the specific details from the photo and the context surrounding it, the "back story" of when it was taken, and perhaps the memories it calls to mind. Just as you made connections between your theme song and your life experience in your first essay, in this essay, you will draw connections between this photo and your life. Okay, so now what?
