The Fashion Reader , Berg Publishers, ISBN 978-1-84520-486-0 COURSE DESCRIPTION Examination of the historic evolution of modes of Western dress from the 17th century on as a reflection of the environment and the cultural life of people. Brief survey of ethnic dress around the Globe. COURSE OBJECTIVES Through completion of this class students are expected to: Identify representative historic dress from the historic periods and cultures studied. Understand and cite historical examples of interrelationships among environmental factors and the use of specific clothing designs and materials. Recognize historical inspiration in contemporary clothing designs.
