Heat of reaction Δ H = H products H reactants 2. Standard conditions are 1 bar and 25 °C (298.15 K). Property values in the standard state are denoted by the degree symbol, e.g. D P C is the standard-state heat capacity. The standard state of a gas is the ideal-gas state. 3. When a heat of reaction is given for a particular reaction, it applies for the stoichiometric coefficients as written. 4. A formation reaction is defined as a reaction which forms a single compound from its constituent elements.
