Anabela dos Ramos February 22, 2010 Instructor: Carrie Dimmitt Reading Response #4 – Topic #1 Coming out of high school and going into college, I learned that I should’ve saved my money for all the crazy college expenses. Fortunately, my mother was well aware of the fact that I would need a lot of money for books, supplies for my dorm room, and many other personal things. I think that if I could go back in time to let’s say my freshman year in high school, I would be more than happy today that my school incorporated financial literacy education into the curriculum. It’s an important factor, and we are always going to need to learn about saving, budgeting, and spending our money. Although several schools provide such a curriculum, I think that some ways of incorporating it would be to survey students about what they know about budgeting money, loans, etc. After collecting all the data, they could perhaps see how they could incorporate such a program into the school either as a course, or an after school program. Another way could be, a lot of high schools have homeroom where students just sit
