Built-In Functions Other than the basic mathematical calculations, one can perform more complicated operations on excel. Excel provides the user with certain built-in functions that can be used to perform a variety of operations such as calculating logarithms, exponential, square root, trigonometric, etc. Each of the operations listed earlier have a unique function associated with them. These functions are available in a list that the user can select from. Inserting/Using Function: There exist multiple methods using which one could insert a function in excel. The first step in all the methods though is to first select the cell to insert the formula in. Method 1 (Using Insert Function): 1. Select the cell to insert the function in – Cell R2C4 2. Left click on the fx (circled above) icon present to the left of the formula bar. This brings up the insert function window (shown below). Note that on clicking the fx icon, excel automatically puts an equal sign in the cell
