SOC 1502: Introduction to Sociology Learning Journal Unit 2 University of the People 2nd July, 2020 THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF GOERG SIMMEL TO THE BODY OF SOCIOLOGICAL WORK. Goerg Simmel contributed massively to the body of sociology. He has been considered as one of the prominent sociologists and theorist that has ever lived. Goerg was born in Berlin Germany, on the 1 st of March 1858 and served the University of Berlin through teaching and the Strasbourg from 1914-1918. He based his studies on the Neo Kantian approach, which worked on the sociological structures. He also wrote essays that contributed to the aspects of qualitative analysis in the field of sociology (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2019) He based his research works in obedience and theory and that was what he was best known for. Goerg's studies also addressed the aspect of economy as he gave explanations on the role money plays and how that affects the social interactions, which is how people react to that in the society.
