4 Reactions  reaction between stable molecules involves  energy absorbed to break  reactant chemical bond  and  energy released when product bond form  if the  1st absorbs   LESS  than the  2nd releases  -  rxn is  exothermic : product molecules at a  given T and P have lower  internal energies than   net energy released - heat of reaction - must be  transferred  from the system (reactor) to avoid  the temperature increase  (system/reactor  overheated) [Note:EXO = exit from syst.)
