First Reading 1. Murray talks to the older generation particularly people over 60 years of age. This is evident by his reference to that age; “Over 60 we are fascinated...I suspect many over 60s”. Murray appeals to older people since because of their age and experience, they can relate on what he says about pictures. 2. Murray’s central argument is that with age, people change most of the time in a good way. Also, in looking in retrospect, Murray deduces that people should enjoy their time in the present and life’s mysteries. He contributes to his core argument by referring to his own life and experience; Murray’s tone intensifies when he incorporates his war uniform to mentioning his innocence at the time when he was a soldier. 3. Murray states his fondness of photographs based on their ability to pause time. They display, in this case, the soldier’s emotions like his self-assured posture and brave smile.
