Mohammed Wahid Makda UGC -111 Section – K 9 TA – Jessica Otto The Epic of Gilgamesh and Spodek’s ‘The Worlds History’, share a lot of information. Spodek says that Mesopotamia was the first civilization on Earth known to human history. He says this was the Neolithic age or the New Stone Age where tools were developed. Also, the development of sail boats was known to man. Gilgamesh was a Shepherd. He used many tools to kill animals in his quest to meet the Gods. “I am Gilgamesh, I killed the Guardian! I destroyed Humbaba who lived in the Cedar Forest; I slew lions in the mountain passes! I grappled with the Bull that came down from heaven and killed him”. In this phrase we see words which were known to early men. Heaven – which we use commonly today with respect to religion and Gods. Also, history states that it was during this time period when people where more relied onto agriculture as primary source of food rather than killing animals which hardly could meet peoples need.
