B. 1 Anabela dos Ramos May 4, 2010 Portuguese 321 Prof. Fagundes Final Exam The central idea behind Christianity is introduced with concepts such as: there is only one God, Jesus is the son of God, and that the house of God is the Church. Along with many other ideas, what sums it up is that Christianity equals “holiness”. Holiness is defined as a state of being holy where one is dedicated on consecrated to God or a religious purpose. This also means that you follow the Ten Commandments, you worship not only the Father and the Son but also the Holy Spirit. Fernando Pessoa gives us a different idea in poem VIII of “O Guardador de Rebanhos” where Alberto Caeiro presents his idea behind Christianity. The poem starts out in a direct and very interesting manner. Caeiro talks about a dream he had in which Jesus descends from Heaven and becomes a boy again. He proceeds to explain that everything Christians believe and are taught to believe is false. Everything is said to be just a mere blanket covering the truth behind the religions
