Mozart notes for C255 In addition to being one of the best operas ever written, Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro K. 492 (1784) is a masterpiece that features some of the best of the Enlightenment. It is based on a play by Beaumarchais and a libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte. Mozart was very fond of his great sestetto (sextet) from the opera. URLs to study, both from the web and Variations A bilingual libretto for Nozze di Figaro is at- http://www.aria-database.com/translations/figaro.txt The piano/vocal score is at: http://www.dlib.indiana.edu/variations/scores/abw8806// the Score of the sextet is at: http://imslp.org/wiki/Le_nozze_di_Figaro,_K.492_%28Mozart,_Wolfgang_Amadeus%29 There are many wonderful productions of Figaro on Youtube right now, but I like this one: Figaro: Erwin Schrott Susanna: Miah Persson Count Almaviva: Gerald Finlay Marcellina: Craciela Araya Barbarina: Ana James Cherubino: Rinat Shaham
