ANARCHY ON THE EASTER ISLANDS: CAUSED OR CONSTITUTED?2Anarchy is defined on Dictionary.com as, “a state of society without government or law”.The Easter Island is perfect example of anarchy and how it could possibly affect the rest of our society. From the video “Easter Island in Context: From Paradise to Calamity”, Easter Island with a population of over 15,000 people. Overtime the overview of resources fell due to the success of the island. Once resources started to become scarce those who had a habitant on Easter Island resorted to violence, war, and cannibalism which paved the tribes into an anarchy. The intent of this paper is to explain how anarchy developed on Easter Island from both a rationalist and constructivist point of view, to which we will assess which argument provides the more logical explanation for the anarchical events of Easter Island.
