Description: The purpose of this assignment is to get you used to creating a PDF document in a fixed ­width font, and make sure you can upload an assignment to iLearn. In this assignment, you will be: A. Creating a document in your favorite word processor B. Creating a PDF document from the document created in step A C. Submitting the PDF on iLearn Submission: Upload the PDF file created in step B to iLearn, using the HW0 – Submit link located under the Homework heading. Your submission must be in a fixed ­ width font, in PDF format, and have the information specified in step A below. Details: A. Create a document in your favorite word processor (e.g. OpenOffice, Word) a. The document must contain (see Sample File below): i. your name ii. your class and class section iii. the date iv. the assignment number v. your favorite quote b. The text of the document must be in a fixed with font such as Courier or Courier New. Change the text of the document to a fixed width font. B. Create a PDF document of the document you created in step A (see below). C. Submit the PDF that you created in step B to iLearn a. The link to submit is located under the Homework heading. 1 Creating A PDF Document If you do not already know how to create a PDF document on your system, it is recommended that you use Google Docs (docs.google.com) to create PDF files for this course. You will need a Google Account to use Google Docs (from docs.google.com, click on Create an account now). To create a new document, sign in at docs.google.com. Then select (on the left ­hand side of the page) Create New > Document. After working on the document, to get a PDF version of the document select Download As > PDF. Then, Mac Users when the document appears in Preview, select File > Save As, to save the PDF on your system. Windows Users a File Download window will open, select Save, to save the PDF file on your system. The PDF file that is saved is the file that you will upload to iLearn.
